Initially, these Robo-Vacs as they were referred to were viewed as a bit of a gimmick, but with over 5 Million units sold in over 60 Countries, no one can say that anymore. With many of us living in Apartments and living with hardwood floors or other types of hard floor areas and short piled carpets they seem to have been made with easy living in mind. If you are in a household where everyone is out working throughout the day, wouldn’t it be great to come home to nice clean floors where you can sit down to relax without seeing those hair or dust balls blowing around? Its just one of the many household tasks that we could do without isn’t it?
This particular model is made for low pile carpets and hard floors although they do have other models that will cope well with deeper pile carpets ECOVACS DEEBOT M80 Pro. to work with Alexa, Having said that if you check the link you will see that there were none available at this time and they weren’t sure when there will be any more stock.
So what’s in the box. You are given the main robotic machine; an instruction manual, a remote control w/ batteries, 2 2 sponge filters, 2 high-efficiency filters, 4 side brushes, a power adapter, a docking station & customer support

The Deebot Robotic Vacuum is equipped with numerous sensors which are ani-collision and anti-drop sensors. Plus the Ecovacs Smart Motion Navigation technology allowing the N79 to navigate safely around your home, it will avoid any drops, obstacles but just to be sure they have wrapped a thick soft durable bumper strip around the middle of the Vacuum to help keep your walls doors and furniture safe oh and not forgetting the N79 as well. The only other mention regards the sensors and the importance of keeping them clean.
Most of us would accept that all our living spaces are going to differ enormously so initially there are a number of recommendations that the manufacturers have suggested. The N79 uses Smart Motion guided auto-clean mode to adjust to a new home’s environment. It also comes with 3 bonus specialized cleaning modes. Single Room and Spot Mode provide intense, targeted cleaning in a specific area, while Edge Mode tackles hard-to-clean corners and edges. Also, they suggested that wherever possible if all obstructions could be removed for the initial set up process, with special regard to cables and wires if possible.
The N79 has automatic recharging with quality lithium batteries which supports up to 100 minutes of 500 pa suction power cleaning, at a pleasant ~60-64 dbA noise level so you can comfortably watch television or chat on the phone even while the hoover is working in the background.
The detachable, innovative helix design brush-roll lifts, then separate the carpet fibers for a deep-reach clean. It is particularly effective against dust and preventing any dirt build up. I keep reading reminders that the N79 is best when being used on Hard floors or then carpeted areas so I’m assuming that this is an area where they have experienced some problems in the past. It is also pointed out that some maintenance will be required periodically to
the Brush Rollers and that a multi-function tool is included along with the instructions for its use.
There is no direct suction on the N79, instead, it uses dual, durable wide-reach nylon-fiber side brushes to capture a variety of debris, across multiple floor types (assuming its hard floors or short pile carpets), and around corners and edges, increasing the N79’s cleaning reach.
Tough Spots Sometimes, the worst mess accumulates in the most difficult to reach areas. At just 7.8 cm tall, the N79 is perfect for tackling messes under furniture and in other hard-to-reach places where dust and hair can accumulate. However, the N79 can still get stuck under low furniture, so if the height of your furniture is about the same height of the machine 8cm then you are referred to the handbook or in fact to look for there super slimline model called The ECOVACS Deebot SlimNeo which is currently on offer at $149.98 on a lightning deal. Normally $189.98 as seen below.
Bonus Air Filter– The N79 incorporates a HEPA style high-efficiency air filtration system that captures dust and allergy-inducing particles while cleaning. This is particularly useful if you suffer from asthma, allergies or if you own a pet.
Manufacturers Note: While the N79’s air filter uses a HEPA design, this is not the equivalent of a HEPA air filtration system.
I can see the merits of owning one of these little machines, certainly the time-saving element alone and think of the number of asthma sufferers or even those with allergies if the Robo-Vacs were set to run twice each day it would stop the build-up of dust and hair in the room.
I know the shape of the robotic vacuum cleaners is going to be hampered by its 14″ circular shape, it will struggle to get into the corners, to begin with, and then getting around the legs of a chair or any furniture for that matter, so I’m assuming that unless there is a little arm that pops out to get into the corners, there will be a distinctly visible area in each corner that will have to be cleaned by hand. The only other point is “What happens to all the rubbish it has collected? Yes I know it must be emptied, but is that every single sweep up? It can’t hold much either, its only a small thing to begin with.
One thing I always do before making my final purchase decision is to go through the customer feedback areas that Amazon especially like to have. You can pick up so really useful tips by doing so.
Take this first one for example.
I’m quite happy with this purchase. It reminds me of things I bought in the past which I wasn’t sure I needed, but once I started using them, wondered why I had waited so long.
I’ve turned Deebot N79 loose half-dozen time now, and I’m amazed to see how much cat hair, sand, dust bunnies and who knows what gets packed into the little waste container. Over and over. Where is all that coming from? I vacuum with a Eureka standup unit, but Deebot is finding a ton of detritus that has always been missed!
I’ve watched it disappear under low-end tables and thought, “uh, oh, I’m going to have to rescue it from that tight space”, and then it whirs, reverses, backs, jogs, tilts, and exits the maze and keeps on cleaning. I’ve been observing the work done by high school students in the field of robotics, and I can see this area is changing our lives and will do so much, much more in the future. I wonder if I can get a driverless Uber car to deliver one of these Deebot’s to my relatives…
Note to those who have trouble connecting it to their home wifi network: I had the same problem but found I needed to stand very close (4-5 feet) to the unit when I started the network sync up, then everything went smoothly.
Attached is today’s image of when I left the front door open while I was working on the computer. Deebot climbed over the big threshold and accepted the challenge of cleaning the whole world. I was blissfully unaware it had escaped until I heard distant beeps of distress. I went outside and found it had jammed while trying to suck up lava rocks under the hibiscus tree. I wonder if anyone has ever lost one of these units, and if they are wandering alone down some neighborhood street, doing their best to fulfill their purpose.
